Heads raised
Swords at the ready.
Two soldiers stand,
Heart beats steady.
They bury their souls,
Where they can't be found.
And both charge forward
Without a sound.
Surrounded now,
By death and mud.
Hair matted
With quickly drying blood.
They swing so fast,
And without a sound.
Hating the ill-intention
To which they both are bound.
The dying watch in awe
As one begins to slip.
Falling to her side
Like a quickly sinking ship.
One of them died that day,
But which, we'll never know.
The effect it had on all the world?
Only time can show.
